What is it?

The Bachelor of Innovation (BI) is a specialized program at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Positioned at the crossroads of creativity, skill, and leadership, the BI program aims to produce innovative thinkers who can solve real-world problems. The BI program makes sure learning is hands-on and relevant to real-life issues.

My Innovative Drive

Innovation is the transformation of ideas into impact. This core belief is what drives me in my pursuit of knowledge and desire to lead in the field of computer science. My name is Noah Storms, and I am a graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Innovation degree and a major in Computer Science, complemented by a cross-core discipline in business. As someone who has always been fascinated by the unknown, I have looked to push myself beyond the normal in both my academic and leadership journey.

My leadership experiences have helped shape my approach to innovation. To me, leadership has been about inspiring others to see possibilities they might not have imagined by pushing them forward. Being able to embrace failure as part of the learning process and continually refine the approach to problem-solving has been essential as well. I have consistently encouraged my peers to not only think critically but also to think creatively. I have seen how encouragement has led to breakthroughs. It is this mindset that I plan to bring with me to the field of space exploration and cybersecurity.

By combining my technical expertise with my passion for leading transformative change, I am excited to be part of a team that will allow for me to express myself both crtically and creatively. My journey is just beginning, but I am ready to take on the challenge of transforming the impossible into the possible.

INOV 2010 Innovation Team: Analyze and Report

Pikes Peak Workforce Center

Sami Mooney      samimooney@elpasoco.com

The scope of work for this project involved conducting research and creating a working prototype survey for Pikes Peak Work Force (PPWF) to gather insights into job seekers’ preferences and employers’ offerings. The team used SurveyMonkey to develop the survey, assisted in analyzing the data collected, and ensured the anonymity of both employees and employers filling out the survey.

The outcome of the project was a success, resulting in the development of a comprehensive survey that gathered useful data for PPWFC. The survey and results are now used by PPWFC to continue finding ways to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.

INOV 2100 Technical Writing, Proposals, and Presentations

The primary emphasis of the course was on developing effective grant proposals, with each student selecting a company or organization to focus on throughout the semester. This involved researching the company’s mission, identifying appropriate funding opportunities, and crafting persuasive, well-structured proposals aligned with real-world requirements. We engaged in rounds of peer review and critical assessments to refine our writing and strengthen our understanding of purpose in professional communication.
